"Christina's Charm"
Started as Maggie Bennett's Resin "Furia" Mold. Customized with hand sculpted trappings, pole, base and roses. Painted in acrylics. Completed 2018.
The story:
This model is a tribute to the Nunley's Carousel horse I used to ride when I was a kid. Nunley's Park is long gone but the carousel was thankfully restored and still has a home on Long Island where you can continue to ride it and reach for those rings! Another fun fact? The horse is ironically named "Christina's Charm" from the donators who helped finance it's restoration...how perfect is that?!
The sad part though is that the horse, as I knew it, no longer exists. The restored color is completely different than the gloopy park paint of back in the day. The color now is most likely the original color of the horse at the time of it's creation which is actually quite neat if you think about it. However, my tribute here is to the horse I remember, the "black and white outside horse with red roses"! I have been scouring my bins of childhood photos to find the photo of me riding it. No luck so far, unfortunately. The images here are of the only two I could find on the internet of the color I remember it being when I rode it and the last brown one is what it looks like now.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my little story and tribute :)
