Christina Riley is an award winning model horse artist who currently resides on Long Island in the state of New York.
From the time she was a child, Christina always had a passion for horses and art, but it wasn't until her 16th birthday that she received her very first Breyer Model Horse and fell in love. She went on to collect many more throughout her childhood - and while many were lost to time, she was fortunate enough to hold on to the most meaningful of the bunch.
As the years passed, Christina continued to pursue her unique artistic talents at the School of Visual Arts where she graduated with a BFA in traditional animation. She went on to work on high profile segments for documentaries, Cartoon Network's MADtv, educational DVDs, TV commercials as well as PBS segments.
Outside of the world of animation, Christina was Vice President and art director of PetKaboodle, Inc., which specialized in online retail of pet supplies. Her future course changed in an instant when one day she stumbled upon a Model Horse forum which combined her love of art with her long lost love of Breyer horses. A spark went off and she was instantly hooked on customizing!
Since entering into the model horse hobby in 2011, Christina has created customs and finish-work on many different scales. She has worked on everything from decorator to realistic creations on Breyers, Safari's, Pewter, China, Resin and Vinyl. Several pieces of her work have won North American National Championships and Reserve Championships as well as top 10's. Additionally, Christina was selected as a finalist in the Breyerfest Best Customs Contest in 2016, 2017 and 2019.
Christina is passionate about the model horse community as shown by her election as Region 10 representative of the National Model Horse Showing Association board of directors for the 2018-2019 term, being the lead contributor in passing an expansion of the Fantasy Division at nationals as well as aiding in the push that resulted in the passing of bas relief and busts being accepted at the national level of competition. She is always up for a challenge and looking for new ideas to incorporate into her work and the hobby community at large. Most recently, she has branched out into the creation of resin sculptures and is looking forward to venturing further down this path.
